About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Position for 18 months
This role will provide high level technical advice and services in the areas of survey and road declaration. The incumbent will work closely with the Manager Survey Operations and Manager Survey & Declaration and support land information and road declaration practitioners that provide a broad range of survey and road declaration services to the transport portfolio and whole of Government.
The role is responsible for oversight and execution of a range of survey and road declaration related activities, including the provision of technical advice to DTP/VIDA projects, the review and processing of surveys undertaken by internal staff and others, provision of technical advice and maintenance of DTP standards and guidelines and the adherence to safe work practices.
The incumbent will work closely with Surveying Services leadership to lead and drive significant change in the delivery of survey & declaration services and the management of land and declaration information. Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
· Stakeholder Advice - The incumbent to provide valuable advice to internal and external stakeholders on complex surveying and road delcaration matters. The role will also be required to support other team members in their provision of advice.
· Change Management – The incumbent to lead change in the delivery of surveying services and the management of asset, survey, and land information. The role will also elvaluate business processes and practices and identify further areas of improvement.
· Developed Capability - The incumbent will work to improve others’ skills and talents by providing knowledge, constructive feedback, coaching and learning opportunities.
· Quality Standards - The incumbent to provide oversight to the delivery of survey services by others (internal and external) to specified established and recognised work procedures and quality standards.
Key Selection Criteria
The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a highly skilled and accomplished Specialist Licensed Surveyor to join our team. Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
· University degree in surveying or geomatics or an equivalent qualification as approved by the Surveyors Registration Board of Victoria.
· Registration as a Practising Licensed Surveyor in Victoria with the Surveyors Registration Board for Victoria with experience after registration.
·experience in the surveying industry ( 7 years at least )
· Demonstratable experience in providing specialist technical advice to a high level
Desirable
· Experience in supervising Professional Training Agreement (PTA) candidates.
· Experience in the government or transport infrastructure sector.
Role Specific Requirements
· Driver’s License
· Ability to travel, work and stay overnight across locations within metropolitan and regional Victoria outside normal working hours as reasonably required.
· The occupational health and safety requirements of this position may include, but are not limited to sedentary desk work and manual handling.
