Do you have a passion for making a positive impact in your community, particularly in the lives of young children? The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and the Statewide Eyesight Preschooler Screening (StEPS) program are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Vision Screener to join our Southeastern Sydney team.
In this rewarding permanent part-time role (16 hours per week), you will be responsible for providing vision screening services to preschool children throughout the Southeastern Sydney Local Health District. Your typical work schedule will involve four 4-hour shifts per week, generally between 9am and 1pm (with some flexibility), offering a great work-life balance as you travel to various preschools and childcare facilities.
The ideal candidate will bring a genuine desire to contribute positively to children's health and well-being. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to engage effectively with both children and families. We are looking for individuals with strong personal values, including honesty, self-direction, organisation, and respect, who also possess enthusiasm for working independently and adapting to fast paced and varied daily environments.
What you'll be doing
Conducting vision screening in preschool and child care facilities throughout South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) and Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD). No experience in vision screening is necessary as full training is provided.
For roles that require formal qualifications, please note that overseas qualifications must be assessed by the Department of Education or the relevant authority appointed by the Australian Government for skilled migration purposes.
