JMG is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer on a Fixed Term Contract to join our Civil/Structural Group for a period of 2 years (with a potential option to extend). As a proudly 100% Tasmanian owned and managed engineering company, we have been serving the Tasmanian construction and infrastructure market for over 60 years. JMG is a multidisciplinary practice collaborating with councils, government departments, authorities, architects, project managers, and property owners to facilitate a wide range of exciting projects. In this role, you will be part of the Structural team, spending approximately 80% of your time on site for our Client, completing structural condition reports, and 20% in the office preparing these reports. Site safety is of utmost importance for us and our Client, and you will be expected to strictly adhere to Workplace Health and Safety requirements at all times.
About the role:
Fixed term 2 year contract.
Full-time hours – Monday to Friday.
Immediate start.
Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Conducting structural condition inspections of an existing timber building.
Entering data updates of timber condition ratings into an App.
Preparing detailed condition reports for the client at the end of each rotation.
To be the successful candidate in this role, you will possess the following:
5-10 years post-graduate experience and currently hold or be eligible for CPEng with Engineer’s Australia.
Industrial experience preferred but not essential.
Experience in timber design preferred but not essential.
Ability to work independently and also at times with a small team.
Experience working in a consulting engineering firm or a demonstrated understanding of consulting business operations.
Demonstrated ability to liaise with clients.
Ability to write clear and concise reports and specifications.
A Whitecard is advantageous but not essential; however, it will be required prior to commencement on site.
Working in Confined Spaces would be advantageous however is not essential.

An attractive renumeration commensurate with experience.
Relocation assistance may be available to the successful candidate if not based in Tasmania, which can be put towards removalists, flights, short-term accommodation, or transportation of pets, etc.
