Sustainability Officer

The role

The Sustainability Officer will drive Environment related activity across the business and coordinate other Sustainability related activity with Business Functions

Further, the successful candidate will:

Drive the Environmental Program by:

  • Contributing to developing the plan for Saab Australia to achieve its Climate Targets.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to define and action improvement opportunities (including working with global stakeholders).
  • Chair the Environmental Committee.
  • Report status of Environmental targets.
  • Coordinate the collection and reporting of Sustainability data from other Business Functions.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain the ISO 14001 certified management system.
  • Experience in Scope 1, Scope 2, Net Zero
  • Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes, and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, Health & safety, Bullying, Harassment, Violence and Aggression, and duty of care and the quality management system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Flexible work arrangements such as occasional work from home / office, 9 day fortnight might be considered for the role after discussion with the Manager.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Experience in working with environmental management systems and/or other ISO based management systems.
  • Working knowledge of environment and climate related concepts and issues.
  • Experience in working with broader business sustainability topics
  • Strong computer literacy skills including ability to use excel, PowerPoint and be able to extract information from various information systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve results
  • Organisational skills with ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience in working with Defence related projects (desirable).
  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical or business discipline.

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance minimum Baseline level or have the ability to gain one.
