WaterWombats Aquatic Disability Services is seeking a Swim instructor to provide professional input into supporting the children we work with!

About us:

WaterWombats is a small local charity, with a prime objective of assisting children access sport and recreation through a supportive and safety orientated environment. 

We are passionate about the difference we can make to children with a disability, focusing on children aged 2-12 living with disabilities such as Autism, Anxiety, and ADHD.

We are a dynamic organisation that remains strongly community focused. Our team are passionate about supporting and working with children improve their physical and mental health, while learning how to be safe around water.

About the role:

The Swim Instructor role is part-time/casual, approx. 6-12 hours a week, with fixed and flexible hours.  Potential shift availability will be on Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday or Saturday afternoons across 3 locations.

This advert is to specifically fill shifts for Wednesday 430-7pm in Woden.

Your duties will include but not be limited to: 

  • facilitating in-pool programs incl. learn-to-swim and yoga/aerobics programming

  • providing lessons one-on-one or in small groups

  • assisting with sensory integration for children

  • assisting with water familiarisation for children

  • general assessment duties, notes and reports as required.

About you

To be successful, you will need the following:

  • Registration with Austswim or other similar swim training programs

  • Relevant disability experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • NDIS reporting experience desirable

  • National Police Check and Working With Children Check

  • Current First Aid/CPR or able to obtain

  • Full Covid-19 Vaccination
