Position Information

Prairievale Public School is a P3 school in Bossley Park on Dharug Land. It has an enrolment of 402, with 92% of students from a language background other than English. The school's community represents a wonderfully diverse range of cultures, which includes 39 different language backgrounds. It has seven Diverse Learner Classes for students with Autism and Intellectual disabilities and emphasises inclusivity in all aspects of its operations. Prairievale Public School has a strong welfare platform that supports students learning and promotes proactive and preventative behaviour support.

The school is a Positive Behaviour for Learning School that implements trauma-informed practices to promote a safe space for children and families to learn and interact. The school actively promotes continuous improvement and successful learner qualities. Our classrooms promote high expectations through culturally rich learning, rich dialogue, visible learning strategies, formative and summative assessments to guide student learning, and differentiated and challenging learning opportunities for all students. We have a strong emphasis on embedded digital technologies and STEAM into all classrooms. Our school provides the ideal environment and context for our students to learn and a range of interpersonal, social and thinking skills that will lead them to become confident lifelong learners. The school provides rich, diverse extra-curricular opportunities through school and our Community of Schools partnerships.


Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with diverse learning needs such as autism.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver differentiated programs that cater for the individual social, emotional, sensory, behavioural, communication and academic requirements of students with diverse learning needs
  • Proven ability to implement wellbeing initiatives that maintain and enhance a positive, supportive and inclusive classroom culture, and cater to the diverse needs of individual students from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that positively contribute to the whole school culture and promote a collaborative approach with staff, students, families and external agencies

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE. Applicants on the eligibility list will be offered the remaining FTE but are not obliged to accept.
