Job description:

Are you an experienced veterinary nurse with a passion for teaching and shaping the future of animal care professionals? Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI) is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Nursing Teacher to join our team at the Broadmeadows Campus.

About the Role

As a Veterinary Nursing Teacher, you will deliver high-quality vocational education and training to students pursuing the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Working in our simulated workplace environment, you'll provide students with industry-relevant skills and knowledge in a supportive learning environment.

  • Deliver engaging and practical lessons in veterinary nursing across a range of contexts
  • Design and develop learning programs and assessment tools
  • Mentor students in both classroom and clinical settings
  • Contribute to program evaluation and improvement
  • Maintain industry connections to ensure currency of training
  • Support students during their required 240 hours of practical placement

  • Animal care management and basic animal care
  • Reception duties and professional communication
  • Infection control and occupational health and safety
  • Animal welfare and nutrition
  • Pathology practices and medical nursing skills
  • Radiology practices and anaesthetic monitoring
  • Dental nursing techniques

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or higher qualification
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience working in a veterinary clinic
  • Strong knowledge of animal welfare and ethics
  • Current Working with Children clearance
