About the role

Engage Marine are looking for a Technical Assistant who will assist in the supervision, direction and administration for the maintenance function, of the Cairns business unit. This is a Full-Time Permanent Role. 

This role will assist the Port Manager with the maintenance, technical and inventory function for the safe and reliable delivery of maintenance activities of all site-specific company operated vessels and associated equipment in Cairns. The position will:

• Assist the Port Manager when identifying system breakdowns and developing maintenance plans. 

• Purchasing of inventory and parts as required and assisting to ensure a critical spares inventory is tracked and managed appropriately in the onsite store.

• Assist the Port Manager to manage on site contractors for maintenance activities such as pickups and drop offs and Load and unload deliveries using the forklift as and when required. 

• Support Vessel Maintenance activities by providing effective communication and assistance to the Vessel Engineers. 

• Raise purchase orders for maintenance purchases in the relevant systems. 

• Support compliance with regulatory and site-specific training requirements including operating equipment and machinery.

• Foster and promote good relations and communications between and among shipboard personnel, client representatives and the entire shoreside team.

• Promoting individual accountability amongst team members and maintaining a high level of work standards, culture and behaviours.

• Other appropriate duties as required.

About you

• 2-5+ Years of relevant trade experience is ideal but not essential.

• Trade Qualification is ideal but not required. (Heavy Diesel Fitter or Electrician.)

• Current Forklift Licence or ability to obtain. 

• Open (unrestricted) driver’s licence
