As part of your proposed role, you will design, develop, and integrate engineering strategies and plans by combining mechanical, electrical, software, communication, and control engineering principles to improve the precision, efficiency, and overall performance of infrastructure assets.

You will be required to function across a range of clients, stakeholders and geographic locations to deliver projects in the following sectors successfully:

  • Core focus areas
    • Resources and Energy (Renewables, Storage, LNG, Transmission & Distribution, Water Infrastructure)
  • Secondary focus areas
    • Social Infrastructure (Accommodation, social housing, hotels)
    • Transport Infrastructure (Road, Rail, Fleet, Ports, Airports)
    • Industrial Assets (Storage, Logistics Terminals)
    • Telecommunications (Data centres, Telecommunication Towers)

With a large number of Infravue’s clients and engineering projects located in regional Australia you may be required to travel up to an average of a week a month to supervise lead implementation activities at these sites.

Task & Responsibilities

Your roles and responsibilities will cover the following main functions and tasks:

  • Delivery
    • Supervising installation and commissioning of mechanical components with electronic sensors, communication systems, control systems, and software to ensure seamless system functionality.
    • Perform performance analysis, review and develop projections, conduct value-engineering assessments, including risk identification, allocation and assessment.
    • Designing, developing specification and programming communication and control systems, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), to automate processes and enhance precision and reliability.
    • Lead an integrated project team with multi-disciplinary membership from the Infravue businesses, client organisation and other advisors.a
  • People
    • As assignment leader, be responsible for the delivery of high-quality deliverables / outcomes as required by the scope of services, client management, resource management, budgets, etc.
    • Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure smooth project execution and meet deadlines.
    • Develop and mentor mid-level/junior staff to develop technical, analytical and engineering skills.
    • Proactively identify and implement initiatives to positively influence the desired team culture.
    • Shares expertise and knowledge with others and demonstrates flexibility.
  • Performance
    • Building and testing prototypes of mechatronic devices, systems, or subsystems to assess performance, troubleshoot issues, and refine designs.
    • Diagnosing technical faults in mechatronic systems and performing necessary maintenance, repairs, or adjustments to optimise performance of infrastructure / engineering assets.
    • Demonstrates awareness of engineering design, construction and operational issues involved in projects. 
    • Monitors and maintains quality while improving delivery processes through continue research and development activities.
  • Clients
    • Analysing and improving system performance, including energy efficiency, safety, speed, and durability, to meet client requirements.
    • Makes presentations with skill and confidence.
    • Networks and engages with clients to build long-term relationships.
    • Lead client and stakeholder interface activities such as meetings, presentations, and workshops, maintaining proactive communications.
    • Actively work with the Infravue team to seek new clients and assignments and lead the preparation of tenders / proposals for opportunities that align with Infravue capabilities.
    • Proactively identify and lead internal business initiatives (e.g. engineering design or energy sector knowledge sharing and insights).
    • Build strong relationships with colleagues and sub-consultants.
  • Processes
    • Establishing standards and policies for installation to ensure that mechatronic systems comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
    • Applies specialist, detailed technical expertise, and compliance with Infravue’s systems and processes.
    • Systems and strategic thinker – always seek to understand the bigger picture and the interconnections from an engineering perspective.
    • Champion data analytics and insights across Infravue to drive value for the organisation, projects and our valued clients.
    • Develops job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.
    • High-quality report writing with attention to detail.
    • Travel to lead the delivery of engineering projects on-site with project owner’s, technical teams and WHSE managers.
  • Safety
    • Staying updated on new technologies, tools, and methodologies in the field of mechatronics and driving innovation to enhance systems or develop new solutions focusing on safety during design, construction and operations.

Qualification & Experience

The following qualification and experience will be required:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree in engineering (i.e. electrical, mechanical, mechatronic, civil, etc.) with 10+ years of relevant advisory and project management experience for infrastructure projects. Postgraduate qualification(s) in engineering and some financial coursework / qualification will be seen as a bonus.
  • Preferably with relevant experience in renewable energy engineering projects/developments worldwide (example with tracking / SCADA systems), including installing/testing experience.
  • Excellent commercial, organisational, presentation, and writing skills are required. Advanced capability with Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint is required. 
  • Energy operational and yield modelling experience and a strong working knowledge of PVsyst and HOMER software packages are bonuses.
