About YouAxxin is seeking an early-career engineer or scientist, with practical research or engineering experience.
This is a position for a bright and enthusiastic candidate with good analytical and communication skills. A demonstrated approach to clear thinking and problem solving is required as well as the ability to fluently explain and navigate complex engineering concepts.
The suitable candidate will have a passion for science and problem solving, and this role will incorporate research to support new processes for future high impact applications. 1-2 years of experience in the field is desired, but not mandatory. Tertiary graduate applicants are welcome to apply.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing R&D division, as we expand our capabilities in this area. At our office in Eaglemont VIC, you will be working alongside a great team that is integral to our success.
Your responsibilities will include:
Calibration, operation and maintenance of in-house R&D and manufacturing equipment including electrical, temperature, weight, pressure and optical spectrometer devices
Calibration and maintenance of master instruments, and master reference samples
Introduction of new methods, equipment and reference standards into Axxin R&D and production processes
Preparation of standard operating procedures (SOP)
Liaising with external equipment and calibration suppliers
Support our Quality Management System through manufacturing, engineering and scientific teams as they undertake Quality Control activities
Assist in the installation and validation of new equipment
Maintain equipment inventory and ensure compliance with ISO13485 requirements
Record and report all findings and prepare calibration reports
Minor servicing and cleaning of equipment
Completing all tasks in accordance with SOPs, Occupational Health and Safety and Quality Management System requirements
Training and skill development will be provided in all the areas listed above, as well as:
Manufacturing methods and methodologies, including practical hands-on workshop experience (use of 3D printers, CNC machines, laser cutters, lathes, mills and other workshop equipment)
ISO13485 and ISO17025 quality assurance standards
Instrument design and development

Essential selection criteria:
Diploma of Laboratory Technology or Bachelor of Science / Engineering
Attention to detail, self-motivated and able to work to deadlines and schedules
Strong organisational and time management skills
Competency in basic calibration methods and procedures
Knowledge of laboratory and electrical safety
Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, data analysis
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Desirable Selection Criteria:
Previous experience working within industry calibration or instrument activities
Experience working with ISO or NATA Quality Management Systems
