The Opportunity:
 
We are looking for an experienced TIG Welder  working in the northern suburbs. We have shifts available across day with 7am start, must be available to work Monday to Friday. This is a great opportunity to expand your current skill base. Temp to permanent opportunity for the right candidate.
 
Tasks will include:

  • Follow Supervisor and Manager’s instruction on the job.
  • Adhere with Work, Health and Safety policy
  • Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, callipers, and ruler.
  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Uses available workshop equipment to do the job properly.
  • Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometre, calliper, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Removes rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper
  • Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
  • Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc
  • Analyses engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
  • Develops templates, jigs and other work aids to hold and align parts.
  • Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Make parts the most safe and efficient way.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use
  • Other job-related duties such as MIG welding as necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.
 
To be successful in this role, the successful applicant would ideally possess the following skills:
  • Experience in TIG Welding in the sheet metal fabrication industry
  • Previous experience in a production environment would be highly regarded.
  • The ability to interpret basic technical drawings.
  • Physically Fit and healthy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The initiative, punctuality, and reliability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work closely with others.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well within a team.
