Trades Assistant

The Opportunity This hands-on role provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills while earning an income. You will work alongside experienced tradespeople, operate machinery, and gain valuable insight into plant and quarry operations; all within a supportive team environment that encourages your professional growth. Hours: 4:30pm to 3:30am – permanent night shift with a 30% shift loading on all regular hours. Overtime is paid at time and a half for the first 2 hours and double time thereafter. Daily Duties Include Assisting with chute wear pad and drill rod changeoutsPre starting plant and greasing ready for morning productionTop and bottom deck change out on scalping screensChanging out seized or collapsed trough and return rollers on conveyorsClean around plant and screen pads with BobcatUse hand and power tools for general site tasksHelp with safe access in chutes and confined spaces Requires Forklift ticketEWP ticket or willingness to obtainComfortable working at heights and in confined spacesAbility to perform heavy lifting and physical tasksWillingness to learn and operate the bobcatStrong safety awareness and team mindset About Us BGC’s Quarries, based at The Lakes along The Great Southern Highway, produce more than 1,500,000 tonnes of crushed aggregate a year, and supply the raw material for the required concrete, roof tiles, block paving products, road construction projects, civil engineering and large commercial projects.
