About the opportunity:

Position: Visiting Medical Officer - Cleveland Youth Detention Centre.

Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary part-time, 16 hours per fortnight up to 30/06/2026.

Location: Cleveland Youth Detention Centre Medical Centre, Women's & Children's Service Group,

The VMO will work with supporting services including North Queensland Adolescent Forensic Mental Health Service (NQAFMHS), Oral Health Service, Sexual Health Service in the delivery of a high standard of clinical care in accordance with general practice and guidelines and Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) policies and procedures.

Salary range: $195.18 to $231.98 p.h. (VMO1 -VMO3)
4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements:

Requires registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
Meet the VMO requirement: i.e.Incur your own on-going private practice costs and complete the 'Declaration of Outside Practice & Other Business Activities' and 'Certificate Verifying Private Practice Arrangements' forms prior to commencing.
Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) preferred.
All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee. All appointments are subject to maintenance of SoCP within the CSCF for the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken.
A class C motor vehicle licence.
This position may require the incumbent to work at other facilities within the THHS.
This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
