ABOUT THE ROLE

The health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, contractors and volunteers is at the heart of our mission. As the WHS Manager you will play a pivotal role in the implementation of best practice WHS and risk management programs while driving a safety culture throughout the Parish. 

Partnering with our leadership team you will have an active voice in delivering outcomes focused, contemporary WHS programs and services. This role has the opportunity to contribute to delivering sustainable, positive change in safety performance, by enabling a culture of shared accountability and ownership for WHS.

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced and effective health and safety leader with significant experience in developing and implementing a strategically aligned and targeted approach to health, safety and wellbeing. You will be a highly skilled communicator and relationship builder, able to engage and influence at all levels in a compelling way. 

The position will be offered to the successful applicant as a Permanent Full-Time position of 76 hours a fortnight.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related discipline (or relevant equivalent experience)
  • Significant, demonstrated experience in the development and management of WHS management systems, plans and frameworks
  • Comprehensive, working knowledge of WHS legislative requirements, Safe Work obligations, Workers Compensation schemes and return to work processes
  • A demonstrated track record of success implementing WHS best practice and developing a culture of safety
  • Outstanding interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills (consultation, facilitation, negotiation and influence)
  • Passionate about leading change by utilising initiative and innovative thinking
  • Proven report writing capability and the ability to present information and influence at senior levels
  • Commitment to work in harmony with Catholic Values and Principles
