Experienced Track Inspector – Technical Trainer & Assessor (Rail Industry) Are you an experienced Track Inspector or Supervisor with practical track maintenance and inspection experience in the rail industry? Do you possess in-depth knowledge of relevant standards and codes of practice and a desire to pass on your skills to others? This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Track Inspector to transition into a Technical Trainer & Assessor role, where you will have the chance to pass on your hands-on knowledge and experience to develop and mentor our Track Inspection team.

We’ll support you in gaining your Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, giving you the tools to teach and mentor effectively. About the Role: Track inspection is a critical activity in maintaining the safety and performance of our rail network. As the Track Trainer & Assessor, you will ensure that our Track Inspection team is equipped with the necessary practical skills, knowledge, and technical competencies to keep the PTA's rail network operating safely and efficiently.

Your main responsibilities will include: Identifying the training needs of the Track Inspection team. Delivering practical, on-the-job training in track and perway inspection, as well as relevant standards and codes of practice. Conducting assessments to evaluate skills and competency.

Developing and updating training materials to align with current industry standards and best practices. Mentoring and supporting Trainee Track Inspectors, providing feedback to help them improve. You will also have the opportunity to review and enhance work practices, update procedures, and contribute to technical projects aimed at improving team operations.

This is a full-time, permanent position with an immediate start. Based in Perth, the role generally follows regular Monday to Friday hours, though applicants must be available for unsocial and irregular hours, including shifts and weekends as needed. About

You: You have extensive experience in track maintenance and inspection (permanent way) within the rail industry. A solid understanding of technical standards and codes of practice, particularly related to track and Railway Safety Management, is crucial for ensuring compliance and safety. You also hold a Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure (or equivalent), preferably specialising in track maintenance and/or inspection.

You possess strong communication skills, work well with others, and are adept at building positive working relationships within a team. You have a keen interest in coaching and mentoring others, along with excellent problem-solving abilities, planning, and organizational skills. The ability to work independently is essential, and you also have solid numeracy and computer skills to perform the role effectively.
