Job Summary:
SCSS / Children, Youth & Family Services are seeking a passionate and proactive Youth Worker to join our outreach team at our Mount Gravatt and Cannon Hill programs. As a Youth Worker, you will be responsible for engaging with young people in the community or in their family home, assessing their needs, and connecting them with appropriate services and support. Your role will involve building relationships, providing guidance, and advocating for the needs of young people.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Be a positive role model and allow children to feel safe, build resilience and work towards positive future outcomes.
  • Support children and young people to build positive and trusting connections with family, friends, and community.
  • Support children and young people to make healthy lifestyle choices, access health care services and develop strong social and interpersonal skills.
  • Provide outreach support to children and young people who are dis-engaged from placements.
  • Provide the day-to-day care of all children in the residential care setting as required.
  • Learn life skills in a planned and supportive way.
  • Provide and participate in appropriate recreational activities for and with the children.
  
What we’re looking for:
  • Previous experience working with young people in an outreach or similar care setting (not essential)
  • A genuine passion for supporting and empowering young people.
  • Understanding of child development and trauma-informed care practices.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to use and access a smart phone for clocking in/out and shift notes.
  
Prior to commencement in this role, team members must hold or be eligible to hold: Blue Card for Working with Children, NDIS Worker Screening, Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS2), hold or be willing to enrol into a Cert 4 or higher recognised qualification and a valid unrestricted drivers licence.
