The Global Business Development Executive is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic growth opportunities across international markets. The role is responsible for driving sales growth, expanding distribution channels, and developing commercial relationships across domestic and international markets in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector. 

This role focuses on partnerships, licensing, market expansion, and revenue generation to strengthen the company’s global footprint in the pharmaceutical industry.

Task & responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in global pharmaceutical markets, including emerging regions.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with biotech firms, research institutions, distributors, and healthcare organizations.
  • Directs the development of sales strategies and sets sales targets to maximise organisational revenue and customer loyalty.
  • Leads and evaluates marketing strategies to support product growth, brand positioning, and market penetration.
  • Establishes and manages distribution networks for products and services across assigned markets.
  • Lead deal-making activities including licensing, co-development, joint ventures, and mergers & acquisitions.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and due diligence on potential partners or opportunities to identify new commercial channels.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (R&D, regulatory, marketing, and supply chain) to align business strategies.
  • Establishes organisational policies and procedures in relation to sales and marketing activities.
  • Conducts regular data analysis and measures campaign and sales performance against predefined metrics and KPIs; 
  • Leads sales teams in building relationships with clients, healthcare organisations, distributors, and key accounts.
  • Develop and present business cases, financial models, and strategic plans to senior leadership.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements ensuring compliance with international regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities to inform strategy.
  • Assesses the marketing potential of new and existing market locations and recommends expansion opportunities.
  • Determines price schedules, discount rates, promotional offers, and commercial terms in line with business strategy.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to align sales forecasts, marketing initiatives, and product launch plans.
  • Reports on sales performance, pipeline activity, and campaign outcomes to senior management
  • Represent the company at international conferences, trade shows, and networking events.

Qualification & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
  • 5–10+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or strategic roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Strong understanding of drug development processes, regulatory frameworks, and global market dynamics.
  • Proven track record in closing complex, high-value deals across multiple regions.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-cultural, and matrixed environment.
